Apple's new iOS 17
Apple has just released iOS 17, the latest
version of its operating system for iPhone. iOS 17 brings new features to
enhance the things you do every day, such as calling, messaging, sharing, and
more. In this blog, we will explore some of the most exciting new features of
iOS 17 and how they can make your iPhone experience even more personal and
intuitive.
Contact Posters
One of the biggest changes in iOS 17 is the
introduction of Contact Posters, a new way to express yourself when you call
someone. Contact Posters let you customize how you appear when you call known
contacts, including in third-party calling apps. You can choose from beautiful
treatments for photos, Memoji, and eye-catching typography and font colors.
Contact Posters give your calls a completely new look and make them more fun
and expressive.
Live Voicemail
Another new feature in iOS 17 is Live
Voicemail, which provides a real-time transcription as someone leaves a
voicemail. You can also pick up the call while the caller is leaving their message.
Live Voicemail is handled on-device by the Neural Engine, so it is fast and
private. With Silence Unknown Callers enabled, unknown numbers are transferred
directly to Live Voicemail, and calls identified as spam by carriers are
instantly declined.
Messages
Messages also gets some new features in iOS 17
that make it easier to use and more enjoyable. You can now access all your
iMessage apps from the new plus button, which also lets you share your location
or request a friend’s location. You can also swipe to reply to any message, use
search filters to find the message you are looking for faster, and read audio
messages transcription. Additionally, you can create your own stickers from
your photos and use them anywhere you can access emoji.
FaceTime
FaceTime now supports video and audio
messages, so you can leave a message when someone is not available. You can
also react with your hands to add 3D augmented reality effects like hearts,
confetti, fireworks, and more. FaceTime also works with Apple TV 4K, so you can
use your iPhone as a camera and start a call directly from the FaceTime app on
Apple TV, or hand off the call from your iPhone to your TV.
StandBy
StandBy is a new feature that turns your
iPhone into a mini hub when it is charging. You can turn your iPhone on its
side and see Live Activities in full screen, such as the score of a game or the
progress of your food delivery. You can also ask Siri questions and see rich
visual results that can be viewed from a distance. StandBy makes your iPhone even
more useful when you set it down.
Other Features
iOS 17 also includes many other features that
improve the speed and accuracy of typing, such as improved autocorrect, easier
sharing with AirDrop, interactive widgets that let you take action with just a
tap, and more.
iOS 17 is available today as a free software
